I love this ward and the members!!

February 10, 2014

mom!

Sounds like this week was crazy!! that's so crazy about dad too!!!!! so awesome!  did they change the whole bishopric (I killed that word sorry) or just dad?  that's just crazy!  this week was pretty cool, pretty much a normal week.  we did lose one of our baptismal dates which was kind of rough, but we should have two for this week.  just really hope they don't fall through!  everything else is going good though!  we had a birthday party for our bishop this week which was sweet, and the ward here is seriously so awesome!  Vicente's brother gave me a triple from the 80s from Guatemala with a Mayan scripture case and its probably the coolest thing ever!  I feel so blessed to be here its awesome!  its just really hard to describe the members here!  we had splits this week and I was with the district leader and it was crazy. he taught this lesson that was so cool.  he compared the story of Joseph of Egypt and how he interpreted the pharoahs dream and how we have to do everything we can in this life to prepare ourselves for the next life.  I pretty much butchered the description, but it was like the coolest lesson ever!  other than that not too much is going on!  I got two huge packages that were unreal!!!!!! thank you so much for all the support you give me! so awesome. but yeah that's my email for the week!

Carnavales

February 3, 2014

hey mom!

Pretty solid week this week.  Went by pretty fast too, but kind of strange.  We had divisions with the zone leaders and our district leader so I was only in our area for a couple days.  however, we are working hard as usual and getting pretty close to a couple baptisms!  The zone put a goal for 45 baptisms this month, which means everyone has to get at least 5 in the zone..... kind of crazy but we are just working really hard!  Elder Chamorro and I are getting along pretty good, I've just found that a lot of the latinos have many different customs and to relax a little hahah....  everything is pretty calm over here though, just working as usual.  Carnavales (not sure how its spelled haha)  started this week in Peru which is a holiday were they pretty much just throw water on people hahaha so Elder Chamorro and I are being cautious hahah.  really nothing new is happening though.... just working hard and enjoying the mission! sorry if its kind of short, just not too much to say really. Love you guys

Making brownies....

January 27, 2014

hey mom!

I would have to agree with you about this week, a bit long hahah.  everything is going well out here, definitely still getting used to my new companion............ which is a struggle hahah but other than that everything is good.  that's pretty crazy about Kathrine, when does she leave?  we had 35 lessons this week, but I am really trying to work on being more effective in my lessons.  I would definitely love some girl scout cookies!!! I do like all of them but I would have to go with the samoas as my favorites like you said hahah.  Alli and Ashley look good in their pictures..... really weird though, I feel like everyone is so old.  sounds like it will be a fun week for Alli with her finals hahah and hopefully Ashley scores some sweet reading counts points hahah.  that's too bad about grandpa Neil, but everyone has a time and everything has a purpose!   plus its not the end so it may be a little bit sad, but in no time we will be with him again!  I'm glad to see I'm still invited to family dinners hahahah.  everything is really going good out here though,  we gave special sacrament to a member yesterday and them made brownies!  the ward is really so awesome!  just trying to get elder chamorro excited about it which is a little rough hahah. but everything is really good!  I really am enjoying my time here and am learning a lot!  both in Spanish and the gospel!  one thing we did this week which I was proud of was we went on splits with the members and I led the lesson and everything! pretty sweet stuff haha anyways, that's my report for the week!

A new Companion---Elder Chamorro

January 20, 2014

hello family!

This week was a little bit long not going to lie hahahah.  As you already found out, I got a new companion this week Elder Chamorro.  He's from Lima and has about 10 days more than me in the mission hahah.  He's pretty cool, I definitely miss  Elder Quille though, he was like my brother!  I've talked to him on the phone a couple times though and h'es doing good.  Elder Chamorro and I get along good, its just kind of weird having him here instead of quille.  He also really liked his old area and is trying to change ours.... hard to explain, but I'm just trying to be patient.  Other than that all is well out here. We are trying to focus on getting baptismal dates because we are lacking in that department.  My Spanish is improving like always and everything is going well.  My lessons are improving  and I am a mejor maestro de leccion 3 so that's pretty sweet.  I got one package this week with the converters and letter from the tan man hahah glad you liked the video, they should be sending the one of me eating sure soon!  One scripture I thought was cool this week was Romans 1:16 which talks about how we shouldn't be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ because it is really important!  I;m also really starting to feel at home with the ward members here which is pretty cool!  They really are so awesome and its cool to seem them working to grow the ward along side of us!  Hope everything is going well out there and I love you guys a bunch!

Jesus was baptized!! January 11, 2014!!

January 13, 2014

This week has been a good one!  It's gone by pretty fast and nothing too crazy happened, but it was good all the same.  Jesus did get baptized on Saturday which was sweet I will try and send some photos later. Other than that nothing crazy has been going on.  We are trying to work with the members here, but it's a little hard hahah.  Everything is going well though, my Spanish has been improving a lot lately.  I no longer have to translate in my head to speak or to understand which is sweet.  The next step is thinking in Spanish which is kind of weird to imagine, but it will be cool!  We don't know about transfers yet, but will find out after this!  we came a little bit late to internet today, so I won't have as much time as normal so I apologize about that.  Everything is going well over here though!  One thing I was thinking about this week was the ola, which is orar leer y asistir.  this is when we have an investigator that is progressing, when they are praying, reading and attending church.  I think we can use this in our lives to progress as well because they are the most basic, but most important things to do!  well these were my thoughts for the week.  i thought i should start with this one just to be more effective with my time hahah

Happy New Year!!!!

January 6, 2014

Hi mom,

This is my long email for the week.  This week has been good, but a little bit off because of New Years.  This week will be good when nothing gets in the way.  This was a good week for me, it does seem like a while since we have talked but I just think that is because Christmas we talked so many times haha.  Nothing crazy has been going on out here, but we have had so many less active families and members start coming back which is really awesome!  We also should be having our baptism this Saturday and I am stoked about that. Jesus is really awesome and was pretty much a perfect investigator haha.  I read a cool scripture this week in 1 John 4: 20-21 that talks about how we should love our brothers and this is something I think we can always improve!  I'm doing great out here and have almost been gone for 4 months which is kind of scary.  I miss you guys, but its really cool to be a missionary haha sorry if these aren't very long, the weeks seem to blend together for me hahah

                                                                      HAPPY NEW YEAR  2014!!!!!

Gotta keep working....

December 30, 2013

This week was pretty calm.  I was just talking to you guys a couple of days ago which was awesome! Glad to see that everyone is doing well!  Nothing to crazy is happening over here, Jesus' baptismal date got pushed back to the 11th, so we gotta keep working there!  Vicente also went to church yesterday!  we didn't go, but he called us and we meet with him after and had a sweet lesson about the atonement!  He is trying to change some stuff in his life and its hard. It's definitely a process, but we are going to help him along the way!  He really is awesome!  Everything is going great out here  and I hope everything is going well at home!  Tell the missionaries I say hi and hope they had a good Christmas!  tell Bufton he's the man, and I hope his companion is doing well!  I could use a couple more ties, but other than that all is good!

                                                                         Skyping with Jake on Christmas!

                                                                              Merry Christmas!!!!
